Murals and Tromp L’ Oeil
Murals are one of the oldest of the decorative arts, many can be still be seen from the Roman era. Murals were traditionally fresco, a mixture of tinted plaster on plaster. Now murals can be painted with modern architectural paints, traditional oils or acrylics. Another technique developed in Renaissance Italy, Tromp L’ Oeil means to “fool the eye.” It is a technique to add depth to a flat surface.
This project was for a ten year old child’s room. She wanted a jungle theme with elephants and dangerous creatures.
